Welcome to the USS Excalibur

As the sword rose from the water, the ship rises from the fire to help right the wrong. The USS Excalibur will boldly go where it is sent to do what is right.

I would like to welcome one and all to the USS Excalibur. I hope you enjoy your stay and have fun while you are here. We are a part of Gamma Quadrant HeadQuarters, and are very lucky to have a wonderful support system.

I have made some crew changes.

Lt. Commander Marco has been put on inactive status until I hear from him. Until he returns, Dr. Ayala will be the senior officer and the one in charge of sickbay. She will be the current CMO until Lt. Commander Marco returns. I will make the changes on the personnel page to reflect that soon.

Also, as you have noticed, we have gotten a new science officer. Everyone please welcome aboard Ensign Vaya. I look forward to having her on board, and will be promoting her to Assistant Chief of Science in a few also.

I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the day. I look forward to posting more with you all.

Hey everyone...

I wanted to apologize...the post I just sent out was supposed to go out a week ago... but somehow it told me it posted, but it really saved...and didn't show up as saved until today. so technically it got eaten by the internet lol...

and I'm posting as best as i can, but there's really not much I CAN do... i'm trying to get people involved with me.

and, guys, POST WITH ME!! WHEE!! lol... we can do better than this, you know we can. Keli doesn't deserve a ship full of non-posters... but for me, when i'm in a position that i'm honestly waiting on people before i can go on, it doesn't help at all.

so, to everyone, i apologize for not keeping my end of it up....

Firstly, I apologize for my lack of posting on the Excaliburs site.

Secondly, Keli is one of my closest friends and I will make it known now, to everyone here, that There isnt a thing I wont do for her to support her. She works her ass off to give each and everyone of you the chance to be a part of a community that thrives and grows on communication and enjoyment of being able to feel where you belong.

So I ask you to return the same curtousy by making the effort on your end so that all enjoy the sim and all benefit from the fellowship and comradary. You're all a Team, and there is no -I- in team. you work together or not at all, preferably together.

I hear good things about this ship, and would like to continue hearing such reports, because it speaks volumes for you to other RPG Sim groups out there. So please, Help Keli as she has helped you.

Well now... here's what I think!
Posted by Lela Harmony on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 @ 10:05pm
Category: General News

kay, to start off, I think whoever sent that message to Keli owes her an apology. I myself felt personally offended by reading it, because I have been with the Excal for a LONG time.

Keli is, without a doubt, the BEST CO I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY 2 YEAR SIMM HISTORY!!!

She KNOWS how to get her people posting again, and when one idea fails, she tries another. Until she gets them posting, or she gets rid of the non-posters and gains new people.

I'm here to tell you that she has gone on an LOA a few times to jump-start this crew into posting...and when I've been out of ideas, her LOA has jumpstarted my ideas again. I've been with Keli from almost the beginning of the Excal.. I joined at the beginning of April 2006... when I joined OF. Lela was my first character, and the one that I've had the longest. I had other OF COs, but the other SIMMs quickly died within the first six or so months that I was on them.

When Keli has asked if people would follow her to another fleet, or be an independent ship, unnattatched to any fleet, I have faithfully followed her, and the Excal, no matter what. And I intend to stay with the Excal for as long as I can manage to stay! I've learned SO MUCH on the Excal, under Keli's direction.

Guys, Keli has worked so hard on this ship... some of you may not have any clue as to all the times she's kept us going. Even when her personal life is falling apart, she somehow magically finds ways to keep up with the ship, and keep us going. I can't imagine many other people being able to keep this SIMM together without dragging their personal life into it. Keli is THE BEST!!

and no, I'm not just saying that because I've been here forever or just because she got an angry letter from someone... it's because I know what has happened over the course of the Excal the last two years, and some of what Keli has gone through. She's a superbly strong woman to be able to do everything she does. And I truly admire her.

So next time you talk to Keli, try to give her a "cyber hug" (( >^.^< )) and tell her that you appreciate all she does for us... BUT ONLY IF YOU REALLY MEAN IT!!!!!

Keli has been understanding about other people's lives outside the SIMM. When I wrecked my car back in 2006, and again in 2007, she allowed my posting rate to drop if it dropped. And when I lost my great-uncle, I had a rough few days, and she understood. She understands that people do have lives, but you have to tell her that something's going on that won't allow you to post as much as the Excal requires.

KELI, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!! AND I HOPE I GET TO SPEND AT LEAST ANOTHER 2 YEARS WITH THE EXCAL!!!!

Next Mission

As you all know, I have been trying to weigh ideas and get opinions on a next mission. I have tossed out a mirror, mirror type mission. But with some twists that was not in the original. I have received one opinion on it, and that was from Dr. Ayala's writer. Mike and I have been discussing ideas for our characters. I would like to hear opinions on that mission, or if someone else has an idea for a mission they would like to do. Please feel free to email me any ideas.

Thanks.

As we all know, the Excalibur seriously needs some work done on it from all the blowing up and just general trouble. So after we wrap up the mission at the end of the month, the Excalibur will be going to the Utopia Shipyards for all the work. I am open for ideas on how you guys want to handle the R&R. If you just want to post and play it by ear, that is fine. Or if you have ideas, feel free to run them by me. I look forward to hearing them.

Monthly Update

Category: General News

This is just a monthly update for the Excalibur.

Post Count:

Mission Logs: 77
Personal Logs: 3

We are way down from what we usually do. I am not happy about this, but once again, I just blame myself. So I will continue to post more and hope that everyone can find a place where they can. Since I am the CO, it is my fault that posting is down.

Strike List:

# Saturday, May 31st, 2008 @ 05:53pm - Lela Harmony [ Strike #2 ] - For not posting in two weeks. Will remove in six months if posts regularly.

# Saturday, May 31st, 2008 @ 05:53pm - Major James Darson [ Strike #1 ] - Two weeks of not posting. Will remove in six months if he posts regularly.

# Monday, May 26th, 2008 @ 03:08pm - Ensign James Lyden [ Strike #2 ] - Three weeks of not posting. He is being demoted down to Ensign per my rules.

This is so you all can see how serious I am taking the not posting deal.

Now, some of you may say, but I have a JP going...that is fine...but I have a JP going with Andy, and you see me still posting little posts here and there. Same with I am sure other people. Just because you are doing a JP does not give you the control to not post at all. You can still do little posts leading up to that one. It is very possible.

But once again, I take blame for all of this. I will try to work more with everyone, and hope we can get posting back up, and that we can get posting back to what it should be.

New Characters, posting, and strikes, mission updates
Posted by Commodore Corrine Slate on Tuesday, May 20th, 2008 @ 07:05pm
Category: General News

We have a couple of new characters on board. I would like for everyone to welcome:

Lt. JG Narim Cole - Chief Flight Control Officer
Lt. JG Aron Jaconson - Chief Intel Officer

With new characters comes a mission update:

So far, the Excalibur is on their way to the second and final clue after dealing with a hull rupture on Deck 5. There currently is a radiation leak, and is being contained. On the pirate ship are 6 kidnapped crew members of the ship. Several have been beaten, and certain priviledged information got out.

If you have any questions about the mission, feel free to send me a message, and I will help where I can.

Posting is definately down from what it usually is. I am going to try and get several out tonight to try and keep it going.

I have also issued a strike tonight to Lt. JG James Lyden for not posting in two weeks. Lt. JG John Phoenix also has recieved a strike for not posting after letting me know he was back several days ago and after me sending out a few messages to him. So with this being said, at least now you all know how serious I am about the posting on the ship. Don't do it, and you get strikes. Two strikes will result in a demotion. A third will result in you being taken off of the ship.

Thank you.

I have just removed two people for lack of posting even when given chances. Any body want to question whether I will remove people for not posting, keep that in mind. I understand that certain things come first, and when I am told about that, I am fine. If you don't tell me, then it becomes your problem.

Rose - you are fine. I understand about the baby. That is not a problem. Just post when you can.

Everyone else, two posts a week. We have left openings for people. Let's start posting. I came back from my LOA for this when I should and would still like to be on it.

Captain,

I would just like to appologise for my lack of posting in the recent weeks. I've been swamped with work, and I've been trying to integrate myself into my new Sim as well.

However, I want to assure you that I am renewing my commitment to this vessel, and my fellow crew members to keep up with posting as best as I possibly can, and not leave any plot piece hanging.

Category: Monthly Reports

I know that I officially don't have to do this anymore, but I like to keep the crew up to date with how things are going.

April Posting: 131 posts. Down from our normal of at least 150 or more for a month.
Strikes: 4 people have strikes as of this date
T'Sani Berg: For not posting in 14 days
James Tyler: For posting a one-liner post
Lela Harmony: For not posting in 14 days
Victoria Meadows: For not posting in 14 days

This is the amount of posting that has been going on:

Person Total Mission Posts

Captain Corrine Slate 43
Commander Ami Rori 26
Commander Tazio Marco 7
Major James Darson 5
Lieutenant Robin Ayala 15
Lieutenant JG T'Sani Berg 5
Lieutenant JG James Lyden 6
Lieutenant JG Lissa Grayson 8
[ELOA] Lieutenant JG John Phoenix 5
Lieutenant JG Phoenix Boydstun 5
1st Lieutenant Angelica Forest 6
Lieutenant JG James Tyler 6
Ensign Victoria Meadows 3
Lela Harmony 9

I am very disappointed, but feel like I should hold myself to blame. I was not here to make sure you all were posting due to my sister almost dying. So next time I have a family emergency, I will ignore it so that I can stay here and make sure that my ship keeps going. Now, either these numbers improve and people start posting (the ones that have not posted in like 6 days or more), or I will just shut the ship down because right now I am not seeing the point in keeping it going if people will not post.

Okay, this is the current up to date posting and log in list. I have issues with the numbers. There is plenty going on. I do not see why people are not posting. I had started a 3-way to get two people posting, they ignored it, so I deleted it. I am trying. If these numbers do not improve, then I will start removing people. I have no issues with that. Mike and I are busting our butts to get everyone involved, and it is like our attempts are being ignored. I am striking people, so don't think that I am not. You guys are better then this. I wanted to hand out awards and possibly a promotion or two this month, but as of right now, I see no reason to. These numbers need to improve.

Category: General News

I am back, and ready to start posting again actively. I am also coming back and going to start enforcing everything that I have said before. I have four people with strikes right now, and I want to see that fixed.

This is my current strike list with reasons:

# Thursday, May 1st, 2008 @ 01:32pm - Lieutenant JG T'Sani Berg [ Strike #1 ] - Has not posted in 14 days. Will remove in 6 months if does post.

# Monday, April 21st, 2008 @ 07:32pm - Lieutenant JG James Tyler [ Strike #1 ] - Crew was warned about one-liner posts. I put that it is required to do at least a paragraph for a post.

To reinforce what I had put:

I never stated this as a rule, but I am going to now because I don't want to see this anymore.

One-Liners are a waste of time. They take up space in a person's email address and they never say anything. If you are going to just post one line, then don't say anything at all. I will as of now, start issuing strikes if you can not post more then one line. There is enough going on that you should be able to post more then one line. So please, if you are going to post, then do more then one line. A standard post is usually one paragraph. It is not that hard to post a paragraph with what is going on. The AGM will be posting more tonight to keep the mission going. I do not want to have to come back from my LOA again to have to do something like this.

This strike pending on better posting will be removed on October 21, 2008.

# Sunday, April 20th, 2008 @ 12:12pm - Lela Harmony [ Strike #1 ] - Has not posted in 14 days. The strike will be removed in 6 months if posts.

# Sunday, April 20th, 2008 @ 12:11pm - Ensign Victoria Meadows [ Strike #1 ] - Has not posted in 14 days. The strike will be removed in 6 months if posts.

That is just so you all know I am very serious about this and about being your CO, and a good GM. So, like I said, I am back, and I am going to do more to keep an eye on things and keep this ship going.

As of today, until further notice, I am on an extended leave of absence for personal reasons. I will keep up with posting as much as possible, but there is a lot going on with me personally, and I just need to take some time off. I know I just got back, but things have gotten slightly worse then what they were. Mike will be here, but if you can deal with the problem, do it. Please. Or if it can wait, that would be even better. Him and I have a lot going on right now, and because we don't have someone to leave the ship to, he is taking the brunt of the ship work. So, please be considerate of both me and him and of our time. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

So far, these are two awards that have went out for April for the crew. The AGM and I are working on the others.

Newcomers of the month:

Lt. JG John Phoenix - Lt. Phoenix has come onto the ship only a short time ago, and has done an excellent job so far with his posting, and character work.

Lt. JG Lissa Grayson - Lt. Grayson came on board and has had a slow start, but I think she so far is doing a wonderful job at working on getting to know the lay of the land, and I look forward to more wonderful things from her.

Outstanding Volunteer Award

Major James Darson - OH my gosh. Where to start with Major Darson?! He has just been such a wonderful asset to the Excalibur crew. He does more then what is expected of himself in character and out of character. He stays on his toes, and is just such a joy to work with. I definately look forward to more wonderful things from him.

Like I said there are more to come. Congratulations to those so far.

Major Website Updates:
We have done a switch over to Trek Simms, and are now running on SMS. I have started the posting as soon as this report is in so that we can start a more accurate posting way, and so that everyone is comfortable with posting.

Website or Ship Awards won (if any):

What have you done this month to improve the quality of your sim?
I just have urged my players to have more input into how things are ran, and more freedom on their posting, while still enforcing the rules that I have laid down for them. In the past two days, I have gotten two new players, and this was since moving to treksimms.

I hope that all like the new site. It is a work in progress. Mike and I are going to work on it as time goes, and hopefully will have it ready to officially launch after the mission is over and before we start our new mission. So have fun.
